Slick New Logo!
We updated our logo at WhiteHat Security. I was really fond of the old one, but the new one turned out to be pretty slick!
@david, thanks. Its actually more in keeping with our roots as well. We were named after the old spaghetti westerns where the good guys always wore white hates.
@thomas, partially marketing driven, partially legal trademark matters. Unfortunately I can't speak much on that.
@lonervamp, what do you mean? Isn't that how everyone does it? :)
Yah, the favicon is updated. Depending in the response I get during BH USA, I may actually go there for a encore as I did last year and the year before. I like Tokyo a lot. So, a lot depends on IF I get accepted to USA, then in Tokyo as well.
Either way I'll have to get a replacement passport, darn washing machines.
Thanks. :) Life has been treating me well over the last few years. Hasn't all been roses though, takes A LOT of work. Right now, am just barely hanging in there.
Having been to about a dozen countries, I think my favorite place so far is Singapore. Nice people, great climate, english speaking, immaculate, stellar seafood, etc. Nothing beats Maui yet though.
Hmm I really liked the old one, especially the capped letters, looks more uniform then different sizes. Also I can understand issues about the "hat" but isn't there a way of drawing the hat a little different?
Holla Jeremiah, I am glad that you like singapore because there is where i am from. If you ever go to singapore again, please do let me know. I can recommend a few place for you to eat.
@hackathology: You got it. Just waiting for the next BlackHat in the region. :)
Jungsonn: Wow! That's pretty slick looking. Always impressive how many cross talents various people in the community have. I should put the word out on things like this more often.
Davi: Yah, thats not exactly the "feel" I want to convey though. Heh. However, I do have in my possession a certain squeeze toy you asked about. Its really cool. :)

Hmm, stetson vs fedora. I like the look of the new stetson and always felt fedoras were overused as icons and logos.
"White Hat Security — Deep down, we all want to be cowboys."
I like the original better, but not so much that I'd make an issue out of it.
The real question is, you clearly already had the merit badge for "professional logo"; what prompted you to take the time to update it?
Please tell me you got a spam mail from someone trying to sell you brand management (and maybe search engine results placement)! :) That would be fun!
On the logos, I really like both of them!

Thanks guys!
Wow, that typography is a *vast* improvement. You obviously clicked on the right spam link!
The typography is indeed much better though I personally prefer the old hat.
I still prefer the old logo, but the new logo looks good too.

@Jeremiah Blatz, well you know, anything worth doing... :)
@Chris_B, Yah, the fedoras are nice, a little over used now. The cowboy hat in security, not so much.
@hackathology, yah, it'll be hard for me to appreciate the new one as well.
Glad you all like the logo. I was a little concerned that people might say it sucked and I'd be stuck with it. :)
thats a cowboy hat?
Oh please don't mess with me.
no really, I couldnt tell. gonna update your favicon.ico as well?
BTW you gonna be at Black Hat Tokyo again this year?

If I would choose it'll be the old one.

Well I can complain but I better put my money where my mouth is :)
If I would call the shots, I make it something like this:

excellent! i guess if you ever have a "whitehat man" ad campaign you might have to do some serious differentiation:

I like old logo better new one.

I'm tired of looking at the logo. Ready for the next blog!
