Rain Forest Puppy breaks his silence
4 years after retiring from the public security scene, rain forest puppy (rfp) breaks his silence and agrees to an interview where he shares his thoughts. For those that haven't been around webappsec that long, rfp is one of the REAL pioneers of the industry who contributed a ton of cutting-edge research that we still use today. You'll also notice that he's a very humble guy who prefers to continue giving back rather than taking the credit he deserves. Welcome back rfp.
I remember the last time I saw rfp, it was at BlackHat in Las Vegas...he was wearing shiny pants. Since that moment, therapy has cost me a fortune! ;-)

ReplyDeleteI don't think the title of this entry is accurate; I'm not going to change anything about the way I've been going about stuff for the past few years. I.e. I'm not really coming out of 'retirement'. I've always been around, and I've always answered email, and I've always continued to work on Libwhisker...even while in 'retirement'. It's not like I opted for unconditional radio silence....I just chose to stop being a security evangelist as RFP. And that will continue...so in that respect, I am NOT coming out of 'retirement' (defining 'retiremement' as what I've been doing the past few years).
ReplyDeleteAnd to the other commenters, nope, I've never owned shiny pants. I did wear lots of shiny shirts to BlackHat/Defcon, and various leather/pleather/[some faux unidentified reptile skin] pants, but never a shiny pair of pants. And I never wore a cowboy hat to Blackhat/Defcon. You must be thinking of the *other* RFP... :)
